My story begins in Lithuania, but art is where my journey starts. Trained as a painter and then as a painting restorer at Cambridge Regional College and my homeland, I started working as an art director in one of the largest advertising agencies in Lithuania. However, after 6 years, an overwhelming desire for a more profound knowledge of the universe and myself woke me up from the corporate dream. I traveled to search for the answers in the Andes and the Amazon jungle, got to know local teachers, sacred plants, and shamanism. These spiritual journeys have opened up to me a unique perception of the world. The sensation of the subtle world and Mother Nature has become the greatest source of inspiration. Only thanks to these experiences and practices did I get the determination to walk my artistic path guided by my heart.
Process. The art of painting and the art of living mean the same to me. I find creativity and subtle self-knowledge inherent factors. Spiritual quests and existential issues have had a significant impact on discovering constant sources of inspiration, which has led to an inner eyesight for a permanent vision. Nature and Space inspire me without separating them from my inner and outer self. By erasing the boundaries, I get a chance to paint without any evaluation, to create paintings as they are being born with all their expression. Formlessness acquires shape and vice versa. Living the moment, gratitude for every step or breath taken bring me a variety of ideas. Sometimes they come visually and almost complete; all I need is to embody them. Other times, ideas light up like sparkles, as a combination of words or abstract thoughts. Then they take some time to mature within me and resonate with my outside world experiences. Only after a while, the idea is ready to be implemented. I have been experimenting with painting for a long time, and I used to get creative satisfaction only from it. However, I had to adapt to an active lifestyle and constant traveling around the world. Thanks to digital tools, a computer and a tablet, now I can express my visions and insights much faster, no matter where I am.
Intention and purpose. As the son of a firefighter, I want to extinguish the devastating danger of climate crisis. As a graduate restorer, I aim to restore the vital powers of our planet. I think a modern conscious man has to start thinking about what he is leaving behind every step. What consequences even an ordinary shopping brings. I’ve seen the true scale of a plastic disaster in Thailand and Indonesia. Our planet is drowning in plastics! When you read that more than a half of the plastic produced is for single use, you may even not blink. But when my own eyes saw vast quantities of plastic in the ocean, in the rivers, on the coasts, I was shocked. I was terrified when I realized how many people decided to close their eyes to this problem. The scale of the pollution is unspeakable, so when you face it, it’s tempting to give up. That’s why I set a goal for my art. I want to use collective consciousness to solve the problem with my works. I wish the viewers let themselves imagine the happy ending, at least for a millisecond. Great works begin with a thought. Just imagine that we live in a clean world where the amount of plastics consumed is very minimal and all the plastics we use are successfully recycled.
When you buy my prints, you also support the Trash Hero. 20% of the profit goes for this organization that gathers the plastic waste on the coasts of Asia. Trash Hero brings together more and more like-minded believers who spread the message, educate people about plastic pollution, travel along Asia, and collect plastic waste. https://trashhero.org/
